How to raise average order value without more budget

Average order value is the one lever that works immediately and costs nothing in extra ad spend. Same traffic, same number of purchases, but each one 20 to 40 percent larger. For a business whose ads barely break even, that is often the difference between loss and profit.

When ads stop paying off, the owner's first instinct is to find cheaper traffic. But the auction sets your cost per customer and you have little influence over it. How much each buyer leaves behind, on the other hand, is entirely yours.

Who gains most

What we actually do

Bundles

Two or three products together, priced below the sum of the parts. This works when the bundle solves the whole job rather than just grouping items. The buyer is buying a solution, not a discount.

Upsell on the product page

A larger size, extended set, better quality for a small difference. The point is not that a pricier option exists but that the difference is obvious at a glance.

Related items at the right moment

Not a «you may also like» strip nobody reads, but a specific suggestion where it belongs: in the cart, at size selection, before checkout.

Free shipping threshold

One of the strongest and cheapest moves. Set the threshold slightly above your current average and a share of buyers will top up their cart to reach it. Just do the maths so shipping does not eat the gain.

A product page that does not require thinking

What is included, which size to pick, how long delivery takes, what happens if it does not fit. Every unanswered question is either a refusal or a smaller basket.

Why we check this first

Raising order value by 25 percent is usually faster and cheaper than cutting cost per customer by the same 25. The first is inside your control; the second depends on the auction, competitors and season.

FAQ

How much does order value actually grow?

It depends on the catalogue. Where products pair naturally, 20 to 40 percent is an ordinary result. Where the product stands alone, there are fewer levers and repeat purchases become the honest answer instead.

Does this annoy buyers?

Pushiness annoys them, offers do not. The difference is where and when it appears: a relevant suggestion in the cart helps, a popup mid-decision does not.
